The Down Under features a different band every Friday and Saturday. Sometimes it’s Country or Oldies but most often, there’s a Rockin’ Cover band found on stage. Johnny I & the Receders, Warlok, Flipside, Bartoons and Simply Driven are just a few who have graced our stage.

Show times start at 9:00 and run ‘till 1:00, later if the crowd demands it. We offer fantastic local talent and a scattering of bands from neighboring states. Expect a small cover charge at the door, and have your ID i
n hand, as we will probably ask for it.

Check the calendar for upcoming bands and other events happening at the Down Under Lounge! Below you will find a gallery of a few of our favorite bands along with a link to their websites, if available.

For booking information, contact JoAnne at 785-266-0777.

Clearview

For the past seven years The Clearview Band has been performing in a wide variety of clubs. Herington, Salina, Junction City Manhattan and Topeka are just a few of the towns in which they can be seen. Along with the various clubs, Clearview has also performed for private get togethers, from bar-b-ques to town festivals. Performing oldies and classic rock and roll has given the band the opportunity to play at numerous clubs that showcase bands that play blues, rock and roll, and cater to younger crowds. Clearview is also versatile enough to perform at VFW’S, Legions, and Moose clubs that prefer a more easy listening approach featuring standard country tunes. The distinctive guitar styles of John Drayer and Ken England, the smooth bass line that Kalen Bebermeyer puts down, and the steady beat of Kevin Bayes on the drums are bound to have the crowd’s full attention. Add the vocals of each band member and you have a sound that is enjoyable at any age, whether it is rock and roll, or country.

Loose Change

Back for another performance on August 8th at 9pm!

Music types:
Classic Rock

Description: The name "Loose Change" is an indirect reference to the years of experience each member brings to this lineup. Arch fronted the band "Venus Alley" in Montana for 13 years before relocating to Topeka. Ryan and Bill have each played in various projects, notably "The Buzz" in Topeka. Taking all of the experience and throwing it into one "pot" so to speak, is like a gathering of loose change... each like a remnant of a dollar, but when put together, has as much or more of the original power.

Band Members:
Arch Ecker - Bass Guitar, Vocals
Ryan Simpson - Guitar, Vocals
Bill Kampsen - Drums

No Sympathy
Written by DownUnderLounge.com

Visiting The Down Under on August 9th!

"We're a high energy five piece rock band currently working as a cover band in the Topeka and NE Kansas area. Most of us grew up here and we all call Topeka home. As far as entertainment goes, Topeka gets overlooked quite often. There aren't many big name acts that come here because KC and Wichita are so close. So what can we do about that??? We started our own band and call it No Sympathy!

We are on a mission to provide high quality, hard rocking entertainment to the starving masses of NE kansas. We do songs from the biggest names in rock. We hope we do them justice! With a wealth of experience under our collective belts we are hitting the club scene right now! It is rare to find an onstage chemistry that works as well as ours. Come see for yourself! We'll see you there!"

Oddyssey

Welcome this new band to the Down Under on Saturday June 21st at 9:00 PM.

After a brief creative break, ODDYSSEY is back and ready to shake things up. Josh Crouse (vocals, guitar), Matt Crouse (drums), and Richard Tracey (bass) all are lifetime musicians who make that clear with their electrifying live performances. ODDYSSEY's original music has a familiar sound, but is unlike anything else you may have heard. This unique style makes for a great show - lots of fun & good rock-n-roll that you'll want to see again, and again. Come see for yourself!

Tommy Andrews Band
Music types: Jazz/Blues, Rock
Description: In 2006 The Tommy Andrew Band was formed with Dana Scott on drums, "Q" on bass and has been building a sound reputation through word of mouth through the Kansas City Blues Society with a strong showing at the International 2006 Blues Competition in 2006, taking first in round one at Blayney's and delivering a powerful performance in the Kansas City finals at Knuckleheads.

2007 brought in Brian Lewis on bass and Roger Glenn on Drums. Although the line up change would put booking new shows on hold and sideline the up-coming debut studio CD, the audition and following rehersals would produce the bands first release, "Spaceheater". Although far from perfect, this live garage recording shows but a glimpse of what is to come from this blues-rock power trio.

Band Members: Tommy Andrews: Guitar & vocals;
Roger Glenn: Drums & vocals;
Brian Lewis: Bass & vocals.
